ANATOLY KARPOV AND VLADIMIR GUTENEV RECEIVE STATE AWARDS FROM SERGEY LAVROV.

On 26 February, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov awarded State Duma deputies badges “For Cooperation” with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for their work to promote Russia–Switzerland relations. The presentation took place during a meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation at the Ministry’s headquarters on Smolenskaya-Sennaya Square in Moscow.

FAMILY EXHIBITION TO OPEN AT LIECHTENSTEIN NATIONAL MUSEUM

An exhibition of art works by Alex Doll called F A M I L Y will open on 11 March at the Liechtenstein National Museum as part of the Russian Cultural Seasons Festival. The exhibition will feature the artist’s paintings done between 2012 and 2014. The 19 canvasses have the common theme of family at various stages in its formation and evolution from the first meeting and romantic dates to the birth of children, their upbringing and the sharing of the older generation’s experience with the younger generation.

RUSSIAN CULTURAL SEASONS NAMED “BEST SOCIAL PROJECT IN RUSSIA”

On 2 March 2015, the Renaissance Moscow Monarch Centre Hotel hosted the National Programme for the “Best Social Projects in Russia” Ceremony. The Cultural Seasons Foundation was nominated in the transnational cooperation category for its Russian Cultural Seasons international festival and was named one of the best social projects in Russia. The festival’s director, Elmira Shcherbakova, was given a special award for her work.

ZURAB TSERETELI AWARDED MEDAL “IN HONOUR OF 200 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN RUSSIA AND SWITZERLAND”

On 7 April, the Russian Academy of Arts hosted an awards ceremony in honour of its President Zurab Tsereteli, with Vladimir Gutenev presenting the Russian sculptor and painter a medal “In Honour of 200 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Russia and Switzerland”. President of the Peace and Harmony Foundation Elmira Shcherbakova congratulated Mr Tsereteli personally.

EXHIBITION RETRACING SUVOROV’S PATH OPENS IN ORENBURG

The exhibition of Alex Doll’s paintings “Retracing Suvorov’s Path in Switzerland” opened at the Orenburg Gubernatorial Museum on 27 August. The exhibition, which is part of the Russian Cultural Seasons festival, was co-sponsored by the Peace and Harmony Foundation, the Russian Academy of Arts, the Russian Academy of National Economy and Civil Service (Orenburg branch), the Swiss Embassy to Russia, the National Museum of Liechtenstein and the Swiss gallery Beyeler Collection.

Еxhibition of historical military uniforms and paintings by Alex Doll

An exhibition of historical military uniforms and paintings by Alex Doll opened on 16 June at the Swiss Embassy on Maly Kislovksy Pereulok in Moscow. The exhibition of Doll’s paintings “Retracing Suvorov’s Path in Switzerland” is part of the 4th international festival Russian Cultural Seasons. The opening ceremony was attended by Festival Director Elmira Shcherbakova.

THE UN MARKS THE TRADITIONAL RUSSIAN LANGUAGE DAY

The Palace of Nations in Geneva was the venue for the celebrations of Russian Language Day on 5 June, the eve of Alexander Pushkin’s birthday. A series of events dedicated to the Russian language were organised by the Peace and Harmony Foundation and the Permanent Mission of Russia to the United Nations Office in Geneva as part of the 4th Russian Cultural Seasons International Festival.

UN MARKS TRADITIONAL RUSSIAN LANGUAGE DAY

Events commemorating Russian Language Day, a celebration of one of the UN’s official languages, will take place at the United Nations Office at Geneva on 5 June this year. The Organising Committee of the Russian Cultural Seasons Festival, supported by the Permanent Mission of Russia to the United Nations in Geneva, is in charge of the cultural programme of the event.

On 8 December, the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre put on a special performance of the play The Last Victim featuring Oleg Tabakov.

Dean of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Andrei Sharonov visited Switzerland as part of the “New Names – New Russia” project. During the visit, Mr Sharonov chatted with members of the media and students at a press conference held in his honour at the Geneva Press Club on 19 February, before heading off to the Burckhardt Compression factory in Winterthur on 20 February to meet with the factory’s management and entrepreneurs from various business sectors.

ANDREI SHARONOV IN THE “NEW NAMES – NEW RUSSIA” PROJECT

Honoured Economist of the Russian Federation, former Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Dean of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Andrei Sharonov will deliver a lecture in Geneva on 19 February and in Winterthur on 20 February as part of the Russian Cultural Seasons festival.

On 23 December, the State Duma of the Russian Federation hosted a formal meeting to review the results of the 200th anniversary celebrations of establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Switzerland.
